KidSport Calgary is currently looking for an enthusiastic person to fill our Program Assistant position!! Job Posting – Program Assistant Permanent Full Time (37.5 hrs/week) Position $31k - $35k + benefits; Start Date August 19, 2013 (negotiable) Position Description KidSport™ Calgary is a local children’s charity which helps kids and families in need by providing subsidies for the cost of organized sport registration fees and equipment costs. All funds are raised locally, and stay locally. In 2012, KidSport Calgary distributed over $675,000 to help over 8500 local area kids get off the sidelines and into the game. Role We are seeking a self-motivated and confident individual seeking to expand their current repertoire of skills, experience and knowledge in the non-profit sector and in sport administration by assisting KidSport Calgary staff in delivering programs and services. If you believe in the value of sport and helping kids play sport, we want you to join our team working to grow KidSport Calgary. The Program Assistant will assist the Regional Manager and Coordinator of Fund Distribution in all day to day operations including fundraising and fund distribution, while reporting to the Regional Manager. The ideal candidate will be a responsible individual capable of working independently who also enjoys creatively solving problems and meeting challenges head on. KidSport Calgary operates with a small professional office staff along with an energetic and engaged Board of Directors. We also benefit from a hundreds of eager, generous volunteers who believe in the cause and will help as requested. The organization is essentially focused on raising funds, distributing funds to client families and growing awareness in order to enhance our services to our clients. Core Competencies 1. Office management and administration – Necessary skills and experience to function in a small office. Strong computer skills are a requisite. (Word; Excel; Publisher; Access; Web; social media, etc). 2. Patient and pleasant demeanor – Possesses the ability to react to strained situations in a positive, patient manner, while exercising good judgment in managing sensitive issues. 3. Attuned to youth – empathetic and appreciative of the world view of young people and of the agencies that serve them. 4. Team player – Functioning in a small office with limited resources often means that everyone must contribute when a project or task needs to be completed. Skills and Experience 1. Minimum of one year administrative office experience preferred. 2. Some post-Secondary education in a related field such as sport administration or non-profit studies or volunteer sector management. 3. Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.
