Are you a restaurant squatter, scenester, w-fi drainer or food - TopicsExpress

Are you a restaurant squatter, scenester, w-fi drainer or food blogger? If so, theres a fair amount of vitriol directed your way in this chefs vs diners/bloggers piece in The Age. *rolls eyes* Personally, I love sharing plates - it means I get to try more things! Having said that, I dont have a problem with set courses for fine dining as I think it makes sense for both the restaurateur and the diner: if Im eating somewhere nice, I want to experience it properly. In the past, if I really wanted to eat somewhere fancy but was low on cash Id do a set lunch menu as most places offer a cheaper lunch option. A number of fine dining restaurants, like Orana in Adelaide, offer a cheaper mid-week dinner option, too. While this piece raises some interesting points re: fine dining what annoys me about it is that it makes bloggers out to be dodgy amateurs who are not above a spot of blackmail. There are undoubtedly people who blog who dont do the right thing, just as there are newspaper journalists whose professionalism is less than what is should be. Ive said it before and Ill say it again: integrity has nothing to do with ones occupation and everything to do with ones character. theage.au/victoria/chefs-set-menus-to-stop-whining-diners-abusing-venues-20140822-1072vv.html#ixzz3BABsZGu8
