Are you concerned about your cholesterol? It is not surprising given the amount of attention it is shown by the media these days but did you know its not necessarily the most important (or even an especially significant) factor in preventing heart disease? Exercise, not smoking, healthy nutrition, and optimizing thyroid function play a vital role in decreasing the risk of heart attack. While cholesterol-lowering meds can be lifesaving in those whove already had a heart attack (or angina), they only decrease heart-attack deaths by 1.4% in those without a previous heart attack. With that said, being proactive should be the focus; here are some natural remedies for keeping cholesterol within healthy ranges: 1) Move-exercise is critical to keep your weight down 2) Add garlic (Crush 1-2 cloves of garlic into olive oil and use as a dressing) and gluten-free oats to your eating plan as they can lower cholesterol nearly as well as medication. 3) Increase your intake of foods with soluble fiber (which helps your body eliminate cholesterol).
