Are you disturbed yet? Are you angry yet? Every time we update our banner to indicate a suicide, folks seem so surprised. This is why we exist. This is what we keep telling you. Shelley is the 29th suicide we have heard of in the four months weve been tracking in the United States. We also track international numbers, but thats more recent. Again. Again again and again, we have to post the banner and reach out to a grieving system that does not understand. 29 in four months. Even one is too many, but this is the reality of the problem at hand; we are killing ourselves because of the job, because we have reached a wall we dont know how to climb. Think twice before making fun of that psych patient; there may be another one sitting next to you in the cab. Your always bubbly partner suddenly being crabby may be more than a bad week. Your always prompt partner being late five shifts in a row might be a sign theyre drowning. So yes. Again. And again. And again. We cannot be the only change. You guys have to watch, and listen, and help us drop these numbers.
