Are you driving to Sydney for Australia Day? There are a number of road closures including; Blues Point Road between East Crescent Street and Warung Street. Blues Point Road between Warung Street and Henry Lawson Avenue. Henry Lawson Avenue between Blues Point Road and the Ferry Wharf. Olympic Drive is also closed between Kirribilli and the Sydney Harbour Bridge until approximately 12.15pm. Concert goers are advised to catch a train or bus to North Sydney and walk down Blues Point Road. Catching a train or bus is the best way to get to these celebrations and Symphony in The Domain at The Domain later tonight, as extra services are running into and out of the city. Sydney Ferries services are very busy and are filling up quickly, so anyone planning to catch the ferry should have an alternative travel option. All road closures are now in place in the Sydney CBD, Circular Quay and The Rocks for Australia Day celebrations. In the CBD, parts of Macquarie Street, Hunter Street, College Street, other roads around Hyde Park, and sections of Bent Street and Phillip Lane are closed until 6pm. In Circular Quay, parts of Alfred Street and Loftus Street are closed until 1pm. As a result, some buses are diverting and using different bus stops. In The Rocks, sections of George Street and Hickson Road are closed. All sections will not open until 10pm. Special event clearways are in place in these areas, and in Pyrmont, Ultimo, McMahons Point and Milsons Point. Check signs before parking. From Midday, lane 5 southbound on the Sydney Harbour Bridge will be closed due to the 21 gun salute nearby at Milsons Point and the scheduled Qantas A380 flyover. The lane will be reopened at approximately 1pm. Motorists are advised to exercise caution in the area.
