Are you eating enough fibre? I recently started supplementing my diet with extra fibre (from psyllium husks) and have already noticed a difference in frequency of bowel movement, which means Im flushing out waste and toxins more quickly now (tmi? Sorry.). Soluble fibre, found in seeds like psyllium, plus pulses, seaweed, Jerusalem artichokes and pectin-rich foods such as apples, also feeds the helpful bacteria in our gut, which in turn improves our intestinal and immune health. Research shows that pregnant women eating a high-fibre diet during their pregnancy have healthier children, with for example lower rates of asthma, than for those eating a low-fibre diet, and more generally a low-fibre diet is linked to many modern day diseases.
