Are you enjoying the January thaw, well it is about to come to an end. Colder weather will return and along with 2 chances of snow over the next seven days. 1st Chance -will be for mountains Friday afternoon into Saturday. As a low pressure moves through the Deep South and then turns up the coast. Temperatures look to be too warm in the valleys and TRI for accumulating snow with this system. You could see snowflakes mix in Saturday morning, but the best chance of accumulation will be in the higher terrain. Accumulation looks light a Dusting to 2 for higher elevations 2500 feet and above. However travel to Roanoke and I-81 to Northern VA need to watch this system closely, heavy snow is possible for these locations. 2nd Chance- is Sunday night through Monday. This is due to a fast moving Alberta Clipper system. These systems usually dont have a lot a moisture to work with but can produce 1 to 3 in a short time. It all depends on the track that will decide how much snow if any the Tri-Cities will see. It is something I will be watching over the next several days. Ill have more updates over the next days
