Are you going whale watching on the Alaskan Beluga Whale Cam? - TopicsExpress

Are you going whale watching on the Alaskan Beluga Whale Cam? (explore.org/live-cams/player/alaskan-beluga-whale-cam) Beluga whales typically swim up the Naknek River from mid April to mid-late May on incoming tides. Whales are more frequently seen during the highest incoming tide, which typically happens in the morning. What do you need to do to see the whales? 1. Check the tide predictions for King Salmon (1.usa.gov/1n01Uh0) and note the time of the high tide. 2. Start watching the cam about 2 hours before high tide. The whales usually arrive before the peak of high tide. 3. Look downstream (to the camera’s right) for spouts and listen for the sound of the whales exhaling. High tide is predicted to be 8:43 AM Alaska time on Saturday April 19 and 9:32 AM on Sunday April 20.
