At the Midlands Homeschool Convention, SPEECH SIGNS, LLC will offer your several hands-on workshops on sign language as well as opportunities to purchase curriculum. WORKSHOP #1 A) Workshop for Parents: How Sign Language Can Benefit the Homeschooled Student This workshop will provide participants with the knowledge of some basic ASL vocabulary words, the manual alphabet and numbers 1-10. Material covered includes easy ways to add some sign language to your current homeschool curriculum and the ways it can benefit your child. It addresses how ASL encourages speech and language development, literacy and spelling skills and offers a multi-sensory approach to learning. B) Mini-Sign Language Classes for Children (4 different topics done at various times throughout the convention at the SPEECH SIGNS exhibitor booth). WORKSHOP #2 B)Workshop for children: Come Sign With ME! This is a mini sign language class for children. Using Signing Time DVDs, songs and flashcards, as well as a variety of books, participants will learn: 1. The Colors of the Rainbow (includes reading and signing Pete the Cat) 2. The Alphabet 3. Simple Early Signs (for children under 5) 4. Animals (includes reading and signing Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?)
