Are you looking for something exciting to do over the summer, having fun, meeting new friends, trying new activities, giving something back to your community and adding something worthwhile to your CV? Then say YES to NCS. NCS or National Citizen Service is for anyone in year 11 or 12 and is an exciting chance to do amazing things this summer and there are a few places left. Richard Huish College is teaming up with Somerset Rural Youth Project to deliver the NCS programme, starting on 12th August. The NCS programme is: 12th-16th August: The Challenge Residential at the Great Potheridge Centre in North Devon. You’ll try many different challenging activities – like mountaineering, canoeing, abseiling and loads more extreme fun. 19th-23rd August: The Local Residential, this time at the Charterhouse Centre in the Mendips, where you’ll get to know how your local community works, meet other people who have made a difference and start working out what you can do in your own community. 26th-30th August: Planning your project in your own community, meeting different figures in your community, putting your plans together to run a social action project. And finally – Run your own community project – making a difference to your local community (30 hours part time).
