Are you prepared to make appropriate decisions and in-field treatment of illnesses or other mishaps while exploring Arizona’s great outdoors? The noncredit “Wilderness First Aid for the Outdoor Enthusiast” workshop (course STC 099x-51133) will meet on Wednesday and Thursday, June 19 and 20, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Northland Pioneer College’s Show Low –White Mountain Campus, 1001 W. Deuce of Clubs, in the Learning Center, room 108. The cost for the workshop is $30. “Wilderness First Aid for the Outdoor Enthusiast” participants are encouraged to bring a roll of duct tape, scissors or jack knife and tweezers. Cardiac nurse and fly-fishing angler Joanne Feller’s “Wilderness First Aid” workshop will use a combination of lectures, skill stations for practice, and group participation and discussion to prepare scouts and other outdoor enthusiasts in how to deal with emergencies. Sign up for the Wilderness First Aid workshop at least a week before the class to ensure it is not cancelled due to insufficient enrollment by phone, 524-7459 or (800) 266-7845 ext. 7459, or at any NPC location during regular business hours, 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. NPC is closed on Fridays during the summer.
