Are you ready for the weekend? Before visiting any of our lakes, make sure you check our current recreation and safety notices. Plenty of mountain bike activity this Sunday with the Gold Coast Mountain Bike Club hosting the Sunshine Series race day at Hinze Dam’s Peter Hallinan Mountain Bike Precinct. All of the MTB trails will be closed for the duration of the race and will reopen on Monday 7 July. If you are visiting lakes Maroon and Moogerah in the coming weeks, keep an eye out for improvements to recreation areas, as a result of the recreation review. More great news for paddle craft and fishing enthusiasts - construction on the new access point at Lake Somerset is underway. We anticipate construction will be completed in August. Check our recreation and safety notices for further updates! Due to the safety risks posed by submerged hazards, a 6 knot speed limit in the northern part of Lake Somerset has been endorsed by Marine Safety Queensland (MSQ). Signage will be erected at all launch points advising of the 6 knot speed limit area. Seqwater staff will continue to actively patrol the lake, and will monitor speeding in this northern area. Seqwater recreation areas are open from 6am to 6pm, seven days a week. Be #DAMSmart this weekend, have fun and consider the safety and comfort of others.
