There are about 260 board-certified poultry veterinarians in the American College of Poultry Veterinarians, but the majority work in production medicine. Veterinarian Cheryl Greenacre, an associate professor of avian and zoological medicine at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, is finishing a book on backyard poultry, and she says the topic has been hot at veterinary meetings
