Are you what you would call gutsy? Do you feel as if you can - TopicsExpress

Are you what you would call gutsy? Do you feel as if you can handle whatever comes along or do you dread certain situations and circumstances until it almost makes you sick? I do a little of both I think depending on what it is I am dealing with but I will have to be honest and say that as I have gotten older, I have begun to worry more about things that I would have used to barely give a second thought. I think some of that could just be age or maturity as those of us who are aging like to refer to it. The older we get and the more of life we experience the less comes along that we havent seen in some situation. Remember the old saying If I had only known then what I know now. Man would that have been a real game changer for all of us? The simple truth is however that isnt how God wanted or designed life to be. I believe that He wants us to face uncertainty as a test of our faith. I have heard it said that it is what you do when you are unsure verses what you do when you are sure that defines your sense of judgement and I believe that to be very true. You see acting upon assurance requires little except the act itself whereas acting out of faith requires much, much more. That function requires forethought then a decision, then the courage to put that decision into action and finally the strength to wait on the outcome. I believe that at that point is when many of us miss the mark. For me sometimes it is just far too difficult to step out on pure faith, even though I am doing something I know or at least strongly believe in my heart is the right thing to do. Admittedly, at times I fail because of my lack of the courage to act. How then as Christians are we to deal with this problem? The answer is really quite simple and comes to us in a verse that we learned as children in Sunday School. Philippians 4:13 says: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. All is a strong word meaning every, complete, thoroughly, or always and I believe that the writer intended for it to be interpreted in its purest form here. You see as human beings there will always be things that trouble, perplex or try us to our very core. Those things will effect us in some way nearly everyday but with our trust and faith in God through His son Christ Jesus and being comforted and encouraged by the Holy Spirit we not only can but will be empowered to handle whatever comes along. If you dont know the calm assurance that comes from trusting God, be gutsy enough to take that first step and and help and comfort to deal with the rest will be yours making it much easier to face it all.
