Are you where you want to be in your life right now? If the - TopicsExpress

Are you where you want to be in your life right now? If the answer is no, then I want to ask - when will it be? I heard someone earlier today tell me they werent where they wanted to be in their life yet, but someday, they hoped they could finally have everything theyld dreamed of and be happy So I asked her What will you be once youre happy? Lady: well, at peace I suppose, I could finally relax and enjoy my life Me: once youre in this relaxed place, how long will you stay there? Lady: Well, thats a stupid question ... Of course Ill stay there forever!!, why would I want to leave? Me: So what happens if everything youve ever dreamed of either doesnt happen or isnt all its cracked up to be? Lady: well , Ill either always be unhappy and if it does happen , i have no doubts that it will be exactly what I need to enjoy my life to its fullest I went on to explain that in my own life, destinations have bought me nothing more than a temporary high, one which wears off pretty fast I told her how on holiday in Sri Lanka, my skin suddenly cleared up and I thought it would bring back the zest for life i once had... Sure enough it did - but only for 2 measly days !! Then I had an aha moment. I came to the conclusion that unless I stepped in to now, unless I became contented for this moment, unless i let go of the bulls**t expectations that both my self and society have placed upon my life, that I would be seeking destinations forever... I knew that if I took discontent in to the future, it would only be there in another form once Ild made it. There will always be something to feel sad or frustrated about if Im not contented for this moment. There was a pause, she smiled and looked at me with a stare I couldnt work out (perhaps it was like who is this weirdo talking to me about happiness on holiday ??!!) Lady: well youre lucky youve found that now, at your young age, it normally takes people a lot longer to realise how to be happy Me: well, i do feel thankful for it but I dont think its luck. I think it just boils down to whether someone has the courage to stare at themselves in the mirror as say Im OK (and always will be). I beleive you have that courage if you slow your thinking and realise it. Im only doing it now before it becomes a regret. I dont want my life to wash away with the tide of discontent... My life is happening now and always will be Our intention to be grateful for now has a motive towards a result and that result is a consistent positive snowball effect that can only make life more fun, more productive and more rewarding Dont allow luck and fate to control a destiny thats already here Will (dog walker, surfer, doesnt want to have regrets as an old man)
