Are you wondering what you can do to help market your minority- or women-owned small business? As you may already know, businesses who are registered with the City of Austin’s Purchasing system (Vendor Connection) receive email notifications whenever the City wishes to purchase a good or service in which you have a registered code in the system. Top 3 reasons why your business should consider becoming certified as a Minority-Owned, Women-Owned and/or Disadvantaged Business Enterprise: 1. Companies who are bidding for City or Federally funded contracts will contact you and ask you for your bid 2. Your company and service are listed in our Certified Vendors’ Directory. Check it out, your competition may be listed there. You can search companies using several different criteria. 3. It’s a free marketing tool and our DBE certification is used for federally-funded transportation, aviation and highway projects. So entities such as ABIA airport, Capital Metro and Texas Department of Transportation also use it.
