Aretha Franklin Covers Adeles 2011 hit, Rolling In the Deep Aretha Franklin released her cover of Adele’s “Rolling In the Deep” from her upcoming album, Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics, and it’s certainly an impressive rendition of the popular 2011 hit. Franklin’s cover of the song is the first single off of her LP, reports Rolling Stone. The LP will also feature Franklin’s rendition of other classic songs, including Etta James’ “At Last,” Barbara Streisand’s “People,” and Sinéad O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U.” It was previously reported that the album, which will be released on RCA Records, was set to be released on September 30. However, the official release date is actually set for October 21, although a limited edition vinyl will be available for pre-order on September 30. Select retailers, including iTunes, are also offering a download of the “Rolling In the Deep” cover with a digital pre-order of the album. But the cover has already seen some critics, with people saying that some of Franklins vocals have had effects laid over them, suggesting that she was autotuned, according to The Washington Post. The 72-year-old Queen of Soul is known for her iconic voice, so when any effects are laid over her vocals, it would no doubt come as a shock to her fans. Theres still no doubt that her Rolling In the Deep cover is incredible, and quite the honor for Adele to have her song sung by a legend like Aretha Franklin.
