Aretha Franklin is one of the most important vocalists in World history. I felt like I owed it to her to give the entire new album a listen. Its a tribute to Diva Songs. A great idea if you are a record company exec wanting a big name artist to put something out right before the holidays that will surely sell exponentially more copies than if she were to do ANY other repertoire i think. Anyhoo, I attempted to listen to each song at least through a verse and chorus, it wasnt possible. Its just not my cup of tea to hear songs like I will survive redone by ANYONE, especially with really uninspiring production, just really half-ass sounding to me. Arethas voice sounds great tho! The ONE song on it that I found interesting and listened through all the way was the remake of Nothing Compares to u by Prince. The track is produced by Andre 3000. Its definitely more my style and sounds nothing like any of the other more predictable remakes on the record. Props to mr. benjamin for continuing to take chances. youtu.be/1ufH-jEh8rU
