Arguably the best sportbike in the World, the CBR600RR story. by Daniel Harry In 2003 Honda build the first 600RR(left bottom), called the CBR600RR, and it was light and desirable. With its 599cc 4 cylinder engine and 100hp(74kw) and mass of 170kg dry(202kg wet) made it fast, and straight away a bike respected world wide. Power to weight was 588hp(435kw)/ton. In 2005 this bike was revised(middle bottom), most noticeable the new bodywork and upside down adjustable forks. Shed some weight and now weight 164kg(195kg wet) and the 599cc engine produced 106hp(79kw) which translated into a power to weight ratio of 646hp(482kw)/ton. In 2007 Honda build a brand new CBR600RR, and this was an epic bike from the word go, a title winner ever since, the benchmark super sport bike. Still featured a 599cc 4 cylinder but with 118hp(81kw) and a dry mass of 156kg(188kg wet). Power to weight is an impressive 764hp(519kw)/ton. In 2009 this bike gained new colours and slight changes in fairings, the 2009-2011 the engine was not visible(covered) in contrast to the same looking 2007-2008 model. Same power and weight, identical on more than one way, and to this day the best CBR600RR ever build in my opinion.(main pic) In 2013 this CBR600RR was updated(right bottom), made a bit sharper and a bit uglier, still proved in the hands of Micheal van der Mark to be a title winning bike in 2014. A 599cc engine with 118hp(81kw) and weigh 156kg dry(186kg wet). Power to weight is 764hp(520kw)/ton. To replace this bike proof to be a headache for Honda, you see to build a better bike will take some deep digging. The secret always of the CBR600RR is in the fact its so damn easy to push to the limit.
