Ariana’s Interview for Glamour Mag. H συνενταυξη της αριανα στο γκλαμουρ μαγκ. Caroline: You dropped your first album this week, and it’s number one on iTunes. Congratulations! How are you doing with all of this? Ariana Grande: I’m doing well. I’m really excited about it. I’ve been wanting to do music for a really long time. Music is my first passion, and it’s been an amazing opportunity. I’m so glad it’s being received well. Have you heard it? Do you like it? Caroline: Yes! It’s amazing. AG: [High-five] Good girl! Caroline: What was it like making your first album? AG: It was quite an experience. It took three years. My sound changed a lot. I grew up, and my voice matured. By the end of the writing process, I had to completely rerecord the songs that we had written in the beginning because my voice had changed so much. Caroline: What’s your favorite song on the album? AG: My favorite song on the album? I think “Honeymoon Avenue.” It’s very special to me, and I love the strings in it. The strings are my favorite part. Ava: What’s your fashion M.O.? AG: My what? Ava: Your fashion modus operandi? What’s your style? AG: Sorry! I don’t know all this cool lingo. I tend to keep it very classic. I like very girly, retro inspired, feminine floral things. I’m not very edgy. Although that’s kind of detrimental because it’s in. Caroline: We love it. The strapless dresses… When did you decide this was your look, or were you born wearing a strapless dress and five-inch heels? AG: No! I actually wear a lot of halters. Yeah, but no, I was not born in five-inch heals. I guess I decided probably about a year and a half ago. I think I got most comfortable in my style quite recently. I was never comfortable because I was always trying to wear what was trendy, but it never felt right on my body or in my skin. It felt wrong. I was finally like, hey, fashion and style can be just about self-expresession, about what makes you feel stylish. Ava: Who is your favorite designer? AG: Chanel. Caroline: I used to think it was “channel.” I was like, “Mom, can I have a channel bag?” She was like, “No.” Ava: Who’s your favorite shoe designer? AG: YSL. Ava: How do you dance hip-hop in high heels? AG: Dancing in high heels is kind of tough. I learn the dances without the heels, and then we add them. We just practice, and I get used to it. My feet hurt really badly at the end of the shows, but it’s fun. While it’s happening it’s fun. I feel tall. Caroline: Where do you see yourself in five years? AG: Hopefully doing something very similar to what I’m doing right now. I love making music and performing for my fans, and I want to be happy and doing what I love still. I’m not taking a moment of this for granted, and if I’m lucky I’ll be able to keep doing this. I love it. I’m very happy. Caroline: Who are your music icons? AG: India Arie, Imogen Heap, Frank Ocean, Whitney Houston, and Judy Garland. Caroline: Who would you most like to sing with? AG: Frank Sinatra. Caroline: Do you have time to watch TV? What shows do you watch?AG: No, I don’t, but I like to watch Gossip Girl reruns when I can. Caroline: Whose TV wardrobe would you love to have? AG: Blair Waldorf, of course! Dorota’s too—throw hers in there too, she’s the cutest. I want a Dorota. Caroline: What music do you listen to? AG: I listen to a little bit of everything, it’s interesting. I listen to a lot of soul and R&B, and then I listen to a lot of pop. Caroline: What’s your go-to karaoke song? AG: Probably “Lady Marmalade.” That’s always a fun one. Caroline: What movie are you dying to see? AG: I want to see You’re Next! I love scary movies, so much. Ava: What do you do in your downtime? AG: I tweet. I Instagram. I have a garden in my backyard that’s completely organic, which I’m very proud of. And I spend time with my dog. I have a puppy named Coco, but I’m really looking forward to getting back to L.A. because I think I’m going to rescue another puppy. Ava: Is Coco named after Chanel? AG: And coconut, so it’s a little of both! Ava: Can you tell us any cool stories from the VMAs? AG: The VMAs were awesome. I had a great time. I got to talk to the Weeknd, who was really nice. And I got to meet Rihanna, who was extraordinarily sweet! It was awesome because they’re two amazing musicians who I admire, and they all had such nice things to say to me—that was so shocking and inspiring and exciting. Ava: What’s your favorite thing to have on the road with you? AG: I love these things called Grether’s Pastilles. They’re good for your throat and they’re delicious. It’s black currant gummies, but you’re not supposed to chew—just suck on them—because it’s better for your throat. They’re really good. Ava: Who’s your favorite Disney princess? AG: I like Aurora, Sleeping Beauty, because she’s just sleeping and looking pretty and waiting for boys to come kiss her. Sounds like a good life—lots of naps and cute boys fighting dragons to come kiss you. Ava: If you could have one superpower, what would it be? AG: I’d love to fly. I think that’d be cool. Ava: So many people follow you on Instragram. Can you give us a few Instagram Dos and Don’ts? AG: Don’t: Not too many selfies. Space them out—you have to wait a few days in between selfies. I know people who post multiple in a day, and some of them are my close friends, and I’ll be like, “Enough!” There are only so many times in a day that I need to see your beautiful face. Do: I love making my Instagram look cohesive—look like a Tumblr page almost. When they all make sense colorwise, or when you add those white borders to them, it makes them look cleaner. Clean and precise. Ava: Who are your favorite people to follow on Instagram? AG: My favorite Instagram is my friends. Jones Crow, my photographer and videographer, has a great Instagram. He takes the coolest pictures. I don’t know how he does it. Ava: Last question: Will you follow us on Instagram? AG: Of course!
