Arles, still in Provence. Explored the city, starting with the Roman amphitheater, built in the 1st century AD, and is still being used today for bullfighting and horse shows. This was followed by a walk around the city, following the footsteps of Van Gogh, who spent 12 months here. The famous pictures "Starry night" and the "Self portrait" (the one with his bandaged ear,) where painted here. Then traveled through the Camargue region, to Stes Maries-de-la-Mar. this region is famous for Sunflowers, white horses and flamingoes...... Within the church of Stes Maries -de-la-Mar is the bones of St Mary, the patron saint of the Gypsies. Back to Nimes for a walk through the old city to see the Roman Temple. Gypsy tea tonight.......too much Sangria, local beer and Rosé....lol..bb
