Armstrong Development Co. completes underground parking structure Armstrong Development Co. announced today that it has completed the underground parking structure in its Armstrong Centre in downtown Cedar Rapids. The new parking structure provides 60 new parking spaces for building tenants in a lower level that housed the Cedar Room Restaurant, Armstrongs Candy Shop and Oshkosh Bgosh blue jeans and apparel during the Armstrong Centres era as a department store. It had been converted into the Armstrong Business Incubator, housing eight startup businesses at one time, before the incubator was destroyed by the flood of 2008. Weve installed a rapidly-opening interior garage door which helps prevent cold air from entering the parking area during the winter months, and with the intense winter we just had, it really made a big difference, Armstrong Development CEO Jon Dusek stated in a press release. He said temperatures were in the 60s even on the coldest days. Mr. Dusek added that the Third Street-facing exterior of the Armstrong center was also remodeled last year, with a widened entrance and the removal of a canopy to provide a more streamlined appearance. Addition investments planned by Armstrong Development in downtown Cedar Rapids include the remodeling of the exterior of the Centre on Third Avenue.
