Army strikes gold in women’s division and Air Force men roll to gold at the 2014 Armed Forces Bowling Championship at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA 11-17 May. All-Army women earned their way back to the top of podium ending Air Force’s three-year gold medal run. All-Army women scored 15,380 total pins, followed by runner-up All-Air Force (14,982) and All-Navy (14,265). Army Sgt. Rose Brown of Fort Bliss, TX; Sgt. First Class Chandres Bolden of Fort Meade, MD; Spec. Geneitha Allen of Fort Sill, OK; and Staff Sgt. Tiara Jenkins of Kaiserslautern, Germany combined to take the women’s gold. Mr. Don Aguilar of Fort Bliss, TX coached Army to their first gold since 2009. Army Sgt. Rose Brown of Fort Bliss, TX won her second consecutive gold medal scoring 4,134 total pins, followed by silver medalist Navy IT2 Melanie Griffith (3,767) of San Diego, CA and Air Force Capt. Danielle Crowder (3,706 pins) of Little Rock AFB, AR. All-Air Force men stopped Army’s four-year title run scoring 17,346 total pins, followed by All-Navy (17,099) and All-Army Army (17,004) Air Force Maj. Ron Hurt of Arlington, VA; Staff Sgt. Chuck Kropog of Shaw AFB, SC; Staff Sgt. Kyle Wilkes of Kadena AFB, Japan; and Capt. Sam Cash of Yokota AFB, Japan rallied back from a disappointed first day to take their first gold since 2007. Mr. Steven Barinque of Joint Base San Antonio, TX coached the Airmen. Maj. Hurt scored 4,329 total pins to take individual gold followed by silver medalist Army Capt. Scott Lentsch (4,307) of USAR, NM and bronze medalist Army Master Sgt. Thomas Wynne (4,262) of Kaiserslautern, Germany).
