Army welfare activities continue Srinagar, Jan 16, CNS: To commemorate the Army Day and Republic Day, Chinar Corps is organizing a series of initiatives for welfare of Awaam, to honour the gallant soldiers and civilians who made supreme sacrifice for the country since Independence. The welfare events will cater to every section of the society belonging different parts of Valley and will be spread over entire month of January. A Medical and Veterinary Camp was conducted by Rashstriya Rifles unit based at Sher-e-Shah under the aegis of Chinar Corps on 16 January 2015 with an aim to provide quality medical care, free health checkup and medicines for people of far flung villages of Khundru area. The Medical cum Vetenary Camp witnessed huge influx of patients, A total number of 264 males, 261females, 183 children and 209 animals livestocks were benefitted from the medical cum veterinary camp. The camp was organized at Dus- Gund village on 16 January 15 which witnessed large number of people coming from nearby villages of Khundru. District Administration also assisted Army in reaching out to maximum population by providing 02 General Physician and 02 Veterinary Doctors over and above 02 Army Medical officers, 01 Lady Medical officer, 01 Veterinary Doctor and 04 Nursing assistants. The team of doctors provided quality medical care, health checkups and free medicines to 264 males, 261females, 183 children and 209 animals at the doorsteps of the rural population. A number of people who required further diagnosis/ specialized treatment were also referred to hospitals for further treatment. A series of short lectures were also conducted during the camp by the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion on various subjects of Health & Hygiene, AIDS awareness, Narcotics abuse and preventive measures against Cold Injuries. Appreciating the efforts of Indian Army, residents specially old, woman & needy were indebted to the initiative taken. With attendance of around 708 people and around 209 animals, the camp was considered a huge success by the locals and civil administration as well. In the other welfare activities, Army in its endeavor to reach out to the people of remote areas of Chill Brass in District Budgam a relief material distribution function was organized by Rashtriya Rifle unit based at Budgam wherein stationary, sports kits and winter relief material was distributed to the needy Awam of Chill Brass and nearby areas. Army in a step to further strengthen the bond and to express its solidarity with the Awam took up the task of carrying out various maintenance and repair work of tha Aishmuqam Ziarat which was requested bu its management committee.These works included major repair of boundry wall, rooms, construction of the main entrancegate, provisioning of LED lights/ Pedestal Fans alonwith an inverter and a heavy duty stabilizer for the entire complex and also replacing the carpets and mats inside the Ziarat. People of all age groups and genders have turned up in large number and participated with great enthusiasm and zeal making these events a huge success. The Chinar Corps will organize a series of initiatives and welfare activities for the Awaam all across the valley and will be spread over entire month of January 2015 to honour the gallant soldiers and civilians who made supreme sacrifice for the country since Independence.
