Arnab Goswami. Shameful. Megalomaniac. Cruel. Like M Reza we too realised 5 minutes into the debate that the man is senile so why hold him up as an object of ridicule for an hour? Why harangue, humiliate, crush his very spirit by repeatedly gloating, I am an active journalist. You are not. No respect for age? No respect for a senior of your own profession? No respect for journalistic ethics and where to draw the line ... and yet you accuse that veteran of crossing the line? Firstly, a journalist is the information bridge between the subject and the public. He will go freely and fearlessly where angels fear to tread. If that makes him a fool, so be it. If he gets killed, he doesnt care so long as he scents a story. The only line he ought to deliberate on before crossing it is whether its in public interest /causes collateral damage to innocent lives. Yesterday, as I saw it, Arnab leapt across those lines, not Vaidik. I saw a 70 plus man who may have exaggerated his self importance as a notable journalist or he may indeed have been one, in his time- whatever it was, that was his raison detre; you cant deal such a blow to a mans esteem as keep saying, you are not an active journalist, I AM!! You cannot decimate him in front of the entire nation - what if his children, neighbours, were watching? You cannot bring an entire panel consisting of the members of a party he has believed in all his life and use him as a scapegoat because you had no other topic that day? What if he interviewed that terrorist? At most, hes a misguided, rather naiive and idealistic man who thinks love can reform the most hardened criminal. At worst, he was trying to further his jounalistic/ political career by showing off such an important interview. Neither of which is a crime. Lets get this straight. War correspondents cover war. Investigative journalists pride themselves on getting the point of view of social outcastes, criminals or terrorists. I dont even want to get into the number of such people Arnab himself has interviewed. We invite the Chinese and the Pakistani Heads of State. Was Nawaz Sharif frisked before Modis swearing in ceremony? What if he was hiding a bomb in his kuchcha? Just asking- dont take it literally. If big shots can do what they like why take pot shots at a harmless, rather delusional 75 year old? I think you were a bright, honest journalist who fell prey to success and now, are a vain, arrogant, cruel megalomaniac, Arnab Goswami. I wept for that sad man yesterday. I wont weep for you when you topple down and topple you will, sooner or later. Na koi raha hai na koi rahega hamesha.
