Around 2:30 this afternoon we were dispatched to a report of a grass fire just south of the H.E. Bailey tollbooth. Due to the high winds and fuel load, the fire spread quickly. We would like thank Tuttle Fire Department, Blanchard Fire Department, Newcastle Fire Department, Friend Fire Department, and Chickasha Fire Department for the mutual aid assistance in making sure we got it stopped quickly. We also would like to thank the Oklahoma Highway Patrol for assisting in keeping a lane available for our water operations and for assisting by relaying information from the airplane they had in the area. Bridge Creek responding units included Brush 1, Brush 2, Brush 3, Tanker 1, Tanker 3, Tanker 4, and Chief 1. Our mutual aid request was met with 13 additional vehicles and 26 personnel from the departments listed above. news9/story/24542256/firefighters-battle-grass-fire-near-newcastle
