Around 35 years ago, I discovered a guitar that our father had in the basement of our family house in Mobridge SD. That 6-string curiosity, fostered by the Pleinis family musical roots, led from fascination with one guitar to a almost career- to journeyman musician-turned weekend warrior hobby of playing music. Playing in bands would set the course for a lot of things in my life. Some great, and some not so great. It provided an escape and dreams. It was a lot of fun with a lot of people. It paid the bills while I was trying to find my way through the early years. It gained me life-long friendships. It got me in...and out of...trouble more times than I can count...(Ha!). It fed my soul seeing people have a good time and enjoying the bands musical efforts across the genres of music that Ive performed. It didnt come without sacrifice. I missed weekends with family or friends, family events, birthdays, weddings, funerals of friends or family... a ton of late nights coming in the door when most people are heading out of theirs for work.... Where am I going with this you ask? Youll notice on FB that Up South is set to make an announcement. That announcement will be my retirement from playing music at the end of 2014, and naming who my replacements will be. I am playing the last few shows with the band in 2014 and calling it done.... Now before you say awww hell be back, hell miss it too much let me state that just like anyone who had a passion for what they do, its always gonna be in my blood and its gonna be an adjustment. I may play an acoustic event once in a while. I might show up at a random jam session some night....ya never know. But its time....I want what everybody else has. I truly appreciate everyone whos ever worked with me in music and I am blessed to have had the support from friends and family all these years - THANKS .... now back to your regular scheduled program........ ;-)
