Around this time 47 years ago, I had Open Heart Surgery. I was born with a heart defect and a heart surgeon in phila went in and closed a hole that was in my enlarged heart. I am happy that my parents took a risk and allowed me to have the surgery. Without it, I would have died around the age of 20. I have a lot of scar tissue on my heart and I have a weird, irregular, racing heartbeat, but I got to live 34 more years than I was supposed to without the surgery. Thanks mom and dad for taking a risk so I could live a fuller life. I am very, very grateful for whatever remaining years I get to live.
