Around this time 5 years ago my mum faced a major challenge. Bowel Cancer. She kicked its arse and has remained cancer free ever since. At the time I was gutted, I hated the world and I hated the fact that she had to go through it. Tayla was 6 months old at the time and to this day I still do not know how I managed to cope without falling apart. I just knew I had to. Just like mum knew she had too as well. Last week we received news that Mum now has a couple of brain tumours. Devastated does not even begin to describe how I felt at hearing this news. Scared, sad, angry are feelings I related to very well last week. However, this time around it does not look like it is cancerous, and after an appointment today with a Neurosurgeon who specialises in Pituitary Gland Tumours which is what one of mums is, we have been told that she will need an operation. The operation will have its risks as all operations do, but I cannot tell you how proud I was to be sitting beside my mum today whilst the doctor is talking about this risk and that risk and going up through the nose to operate and all the other scary shit that he said. All through it my beautiful mum took it in and nodded and said yes, yes well it has to come out doesnt it. I wouldnt have blamed her if she had fallen apart then and there on the spot, but she didnt. She is so admirable and I am so proud of her and I just know that after this operation all will be ok, because it has to be. xxx
