Arrest Orbih for alleged arson, APC charges police By Bureau Chief, Benin Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Anselm Ojezua, on Thursday, called on the state Commissioner of Police to arrest the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Dan Orbih. The arrest, which will also affect other leaders of the PDP, according to Ojezua, is over their alleged sponsoring of arson through a faction of the Students Union Government (SUG) of the University of Benin (UNIBEN). The APC chairman, in a statement in Benin, said: “We are aware that the Chairman of the PDP, Mr Dan Orbih, and some leaders of the party sponsored a faction of the Students Union Government to commit arson by setting fire to a property belonging to Edo State Government. “We are also aware of the plan by Orbih and other leaders of the PDP to inject thugs into the ranks of the students of the university and unleash mayhem on unsuspecting members of the public and further commit heinous crimes all in the name of protest. “We call on the Commissioner of Police, Edo State, to arrest and interrogate Orbih and other PDP leaders for sponsoring arson and stop their further plan to create mayhem in the state. “It is sad that in the name of politics, Mr Orbih has resorted to crude tactics and is planning to unleash PDP thugs on hapless people of the state. “We call on the Commissioner of Police to act fast, as the APC would not fold its hands and watch Dan Orbih and his thugs make the state ungovernable,” Ojezua declared.
