Arrest Reports: On Saturday, June 21, 2014 the Bernie Police Department was involved in a pursuit of a vehicle driven by Steven M. Kirkwood age 32 of Malden. Mr. Kirkwood was chased approximately 1 mile north of Malden where he wrecked and ran into a nearby residence. Mr. Kirkwood was found in possession of an unknown amount of methamphetamine. The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Malden Police Department assisted in the apprehension of Mr. Kirkwood and he was transported to the Bernie Police Department. Steven Kirkwood was charged through the Stoddard County Prosecuting Attorneys Office with a Class C Felony of Possession of Controlled Substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana and a Class D- Felony of Resisting arrest/ detention/ stop by fleeing- creating a substantial risk of serious injury/ death to any person. Bond was set at $25,000.00 Cash Only. Also on Saturday, June 21, 2014 the Bernie Police Department arrested Colter L. Kaster age 30 of Bernie for driving while suspended and a Butler County Warrant for Failure to Appear Bond set at $5000.00 Cash Only.
