Arsenal alerted to transfer possibility of Milan striker Posted on June 12, 2013 by Bob Shaarawy to Arsenal by SS Arsenal have been alerted by AC Milan’s confession that they would be open to letting young star Stephan El Shaaraway leave the club for the right money. The comments were provoked by Manchester City’s interest in him but Arsene Wenger will be keeping a close eye on proceedings and may make a cheeky bid if a deal doesn’t work out with City. “El Shaaraway? We never said he was not for sale,” said the Italian club’s vice-president. Arsenal have around £70 Million to spend this summer and they have already cast their eyes far across Europe and a deal for Gonzalo Higuain looks to be the most promising at the moment. Arsene Wenger is interested in El Shaaraway because he has the potential to be one the world’s best players and no club would turn him down if they had the chance to sign him for the right amount. 20-year old El Shaaraway was recently named young player of the year in Serie A because of his amazing performances for Milan that carried much of the team through the season. They have fallen far behind Juventus in Italian football as they look to rebuild the squad after moving into a new era at the club signalled by the departures of players such as Andrea Pirlo, Alessandro Nesta, Clarence Seedorf, Gennaro Gattuso, Fillipo Inzaghi and now club captain Massimo Ambrosini. Signing El Shaaraway would be a great boost for the squad, the only problem is where he would play. The club already has enough wide players but he can also play in a central role as a striker or a supporting player. Arsenal may look to him instead of Stevan Jovetic who is a similar player when operating behind the striker. A deal is still unlikely though, as Man City will no doubt have more cash to offer to Milan and the player for wages. Do you think a deal for El Shaaraway would be a good move if it was possible?
