Arsenal are in talks to sign Miroslav Klose and Kim Kallstrom before the transfer window shuts, Goal can reveal. The Gunners have centred their deadline-day attention on loan deals for Lazio striker Klose and Spartak Moscow midfielder Kallstrom. Goal understands that Arsenal contract-fixer Dick Law is in Italy to finalise a deal for veteran German striker Klose. Arsenal are also hoping to agree a deal for Kallstrom as Arsene Wenger attempts to reinforce his central midfield. As revealed by Goal on Tuesday, Aaron Ramsey is out for up to six weeks after sustaining a fresh thigh injury in training on Monday . Goal also revealed on Thursday that Arsenal had lined up a loan swoop for Klose if they could not seal a late deal for first-choice forward target Julian Draxler, who will not now be moving to Emirates Stadium in this window. As Arsenal struggled to broker an agreement with Schalke for Draxler, Wenger sanctioned the operation of a back-up plan and Law flew out to Italy to try and secure an agreement with Lazio. Klose is 35 but is expected to be in the Germany squad at this summer’s World Cup and remains a regular scorer for club and country. Wenger also wants to bring in a new midfielder and moved for Kallstrom after learning that Blaise Matuidi will extend his Paris Saint-Germain contract and being put off by Southampton’s £15 million valuation of Morgan Schneiderlin.
