Arsene Wenger is doing his best to not get involved in the war of words between Arsenal’s prime transfer target Luis Suarez and his club Liverpool. It seems to be a good idea, because thetensions between player and club are reaching boiling point, while Wenger is just playing the role of respectful potential customer. If Arsenal were to start doing what the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid do to unsettle their target, it could force Liverpool into a corner when they decide not to sell Suarez merely to spite him and us. At the minute, though, they must be getting close to the point where thet think it is better to get rid of him as soon as possible to avoid all the negative feeling this saga is creating. After he told the media that the club was reneging on it’s agreement to let him go in the current circumstances, Brendan Rodgers has dropped the pretence of supporting Suarez and gone on the attack, accusing the striker or disrespect to everyone involved with the club. He has also started talking about no player being bigger than the club and stating that any other club would have got rid of Suarez by now. These words, and the fact that he has made the 26-year old train with the reserves, are doing nothing to heal any rift. Instead they have only increased the likelihood that Suarez will either leave or be a sullen player if forced to stay. Arsenal look like they will wait for the smoke to clear, and they may even be waiting until the Champions League group stages are guaranteed. I think, though, that we could offer Liverpool a face saving solution now by going back with a bidof around £45 million. The Liverpool fans would accept now that Suarez should go, while Rodgers could still portray himself as a tough, no nonsensemanager. Wenger would keep his good reputation with other clubs and look decisive to the Arsenal fans, while Suarez would get his wishand be able to help us ensure CL qualification. Everybody wins! What do you think Gooners?
