Art is the Answer: Bringing Color and Diversity to Pocatello A Public Ballot Initiative Ordinance for artist expression to be presented and secured in public areas within the City of Pocatello representing the free expression and life of the community of Pocatello. Free from control of Political Bodies dictating or defining both public expression, or the locations. Governance will be established by a broad based committee made up of Artists, with liaisons between government and other political bodies that truly wish to enhance the values of the entire community. And since Art represents and includes both aesthetics and physical benefits for all, an office shall be provided within the Pocatello Department of Parks and Recreation to assist in the functioning of the mission and purpose of this ordinance. Project Locations and Art Genre Visual Art: Benton Street Underpass, Gould Street Underpass, Center Street Underpass: “Our Living Art Mural” Peoples Park Underpass – A tribute to both Youth and our Rail Road Sacajawea Park – The Weave Mural Raymond Park – Weave Mural Performing Arts: Peoples Park Free Stage - North End Pocatello Ross Park Free Stage Band-shell – South End Pocatello This is not a final or limited selection for areas and arts. This is just a beginning! Performance Centers are for all people, it is an entitlement. MISSION STATEMENT Knowing the artistic expression is innate in all humans, the Art is the Answer project will serve all residents of Pocatello and surrounding communities by providing quality visual aesthetics, places of artistic expression, and education programs, as well as safe, well maintained art-park designated areas and facilities; striving to enhance the quality of peoples lives, provide the benefits of leisure and open space, and serve as a source of community pride.
