In quieter moments he has spent a great many hours with his lute working on material by such composers as Marco DallAquilla and Joan Ambrosio Dalza. Also, inspired by middle eastern music he has investigated the potential of this solo instrument for improvisation. This 15th/16th century repertoire, some of the earliest ever published music, comes to us in the form of tablature, baffling to anyone familiar with todays music notation and often full of errors and inconsistency. Exactly what it sounded like back then will always remain something of a mystery, to bring it to life takes careful study, an in depth knowledge of musical harmony and just a little guesswork. One thing we do know is that improvisation was common in those days and that individuality was the norm. 4:00 - Peter T Guitarist Extraordinaire
