Article 14. Retirement-PERS MST currently pays 100% of the PERS employer portion and the employee portion (except for the new bottom 5 Operators who pay 3 1/2% of their portion) MST now wants to give us a 7% pay increase and have us turn back around and pay the employee portion of our PERS which equals no raise. Under current California Law we are exempt from having to pay our portion of PERS until the end of 2014 while a judge decides whether to exempt us or not. If Exempt we continue to pay 0% of our PERS contribution, if the judge decides we are not exempt we pay our share starting in 2018. A threat by MST says take the 7% now or if you lose we will give you nothing. Vote no on the agreement.
