Article appears to be written by a Morgellons denialist. My comments on this ridiculous article: The author of this piece has a lot to learn about Morgellons disease. No wonder I dont see the authors name here. This article states that there is no official medical text on the subject of Morgellons. Not true. A medical dermatology textbook has devoted an entire chapter to Morgellons. When writing an article on a medical condition, most authors will first review the published literature on the topic. A quick PubMed search wouldve revealed several peer reviewed papers published in medical journals. Links to these papers can also be found here: thecehf.org/morgellons-disease-research.html The unusual filaments are known to be stemming from skin cells specifically keratinocytes and fibroblasts. Borrelia burgdorferi has been detected in Morgellons lesions of every study subject by multiple labs by PCR and genome sequencing, IHC studies, Dieterle and Warthin Stary stains and scanning and electron microscopy. H.pylori has also been determined to be present in the skin lesions of a significant % of these study subjects. Neither of these pathogens are normal flora of the skin. Morgellons patients usually exhibit an array of systemic symptoms including extreme fatigue, behavior changes, cognitive decline, psychiatric manifestations and more. These are common symptoms associated with longstanding spirochetal infection. Sadly, the debilitating condition has been dismissed by the medical community that many patients have given up hope of ever receiving medical care and have taken their own lives. The tables are turning as research at major universities and international teams of research advances and more physicians every day realizing the reality of Morgellons. I also wanted to mention that Dr. Jeffrey Meffert has not presented in any format a debunking of Morgellons in at least 8-9 yrs. this author obviously did not check any facts. It is unfortunate for those who suffer from Morgellons that reckless media like this be circulated perpetuating myth and opinion rather than science or fact.
