Articles raises many questions - rationing v. rational cost controls, consequences of patient/doctor autonomy - The rate of spinal surgery in the United States is about twice that in Europe and Canada, and five times that in Britain, said Dr. Richard A. Deyo of Oregon Health and Science University, who studies international comparisons.
