Artist of the day Cillian Ó Súilleabháin. Cillian is a furniture designer based in Co. Kilkenny, Ireland, working exclusively in wood. He originally qualified in engineering before pursuing a craft career. With this background, the problem-solving elements of furniture-making appeal to his technical side; be they the search for an elegant design solution or the development of a process to overcome a particular manufacturing issue. Cillian’s drive is to find the essence of the form, to achieve a spare beauty that belies the involved process needed to deliver it.
