Arts and Edges Festival Beyond the western edge brings together the unique voices of eleven Western Australian artists with disability. This diverse collective of artists was formed from the HERE&NOW13 mentorship and professional development project: a unique partnership between DADAA , Lawrence Wilson Gallery at the University of Western Australia, Department of Culture and the Arts and the Disability Services Commission. The selected group of artists including Katrina Barber, Patrick Carter, Clive Collender, Aquinas Crowe, David Guhl, Tim Maley, Julian Poon, Jane Ryan, Robert Turpin, Lisa Uhl and Robin Warren work with a variety of art forms including painting, sculpture, drawing, installation, performance and the digital medias. The exhibition is positioned in relation to models from the United States and the United Kingdom, where innovative and critical models of exhibition and writing have emerged to consider disability arts practice within the larger narrative of contemporary art. Beyond the western edge adds to this and elevates perceptions of contemporary disability arts practice within Western Australia
