Arunachalee Students Become Victim The Arunachalee students studying at Alpine Institute of Management & Technology, Dehradun have been subjected to racial attacks on Independence Day. According to the report one Arunachalee boy received serious head injury after being attacked with blunt objects by the senior students. The whole problem started after students hailing from Arunachal objected to the repeated act of ragging by the senior students. The Arunachalee students had few days ago complained to the institute’s authority about ragging incident. Acting upon their complaint the authorities had called a meeting wherein seniors had assured not to indulge in such act in the future. However, the seniors got extremely agitated by such complaint and started targeting Arunachalee students. Yesterday things took ugly turn when one senior without any provocation bashed up an Arunachalee student inside the hostel campus. Hearing about the incident, the Arunachalee students informed the matter to police and institute authority. Fearing for their safety all the Arunachalee students tried to flee from hostel in the evening. However, the gatekeeper did not allow them to leave. When they were arguing with gatekeeper, senior students armed with lethal weapon charged at them near gate. It led to clash between two group and many Arunachalee students are believed to have received injuries. The students alleged that authorities instead of helping them got furious for informing the matter to police. When contacted on phone managing director of the institute HK Chauhan sound evasive and only stated that no such incident took place. -Arunachal Times
