Arusha Agreement Briefing: We Can’t Leave The SPLM Party To Salva Kiir! Posted by ... Machar&Adwok Dr. Riek Machar Teny, the former Vice President and the current chairman and C-in-C of SPLM/SPLA(Photo Credits: Deng Elijah/Nyamilepedia) Jan 25, 2014(Nyamilepedia) — During the SPLM/SPLA [IO] Public Briefing on Arusha Agreement on SPLM Reunification at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi, the SPLM/SPLA [IO] leaders unanimously stressed that the cadres of SPLM/SPLA will not leave the SPLM Party to president Salva Kiir Mayardiit. According to former Minister, Professor Adwok Nyaba, who played a vital role in the Intra-Party reunification process in Arusha, Tanzania, president Salva Kiir Mayardit cannot claim the ruling party, SPLM, more than other senior members of SPLM/SPLA. Based on liberation experience, Dr. Adwok Nyaba told thousands of supporters, who turned up for the briefing at Safari Park Hotel that Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit was not a good strategist during the liberation struggle as attributed, mostly by his supporters, in the last few years as his core legacy. According to Dr. Adwok, Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit participated in two major battles in attempt to liberate Kurmuk and Rumbek from Khartoum regime, however, the results of both encounters were deserters. “Salva Kiir led only two battles at Kurmuk and Rumbek, and all of them were deserters” Adwok recalls. Dr. Adwok believes that many other senior SPLM/SPLA cadres have contributed massively to build the political and the military wings of SPLM/SPLA than president Salva Kiir. “most of us have contributed to SPLM/SPLA than Salva Kiir….Dr. Riek liberated the whole of Western Upper Nile and Northern Upper Nile. Should we leave this party to him [Salva Kiir]?” Adwok questions. We need to reorganize it, we need to revitalize it” Adwok emphasizes. According to Dr. Adwok, the former minister of higher education, science and technology, “Salva is a leader who has nothing here [pointing to his brain] to offer”. “Only in 2011 when he appointed me as the Minister, I struggle to meet him but he never offered to meet me until it reached a point of considering to resign…but my wife said no” Adwok recalled. Dr. Adwok reminds the gathering of his resignation from the SPLM party, which he sumbitted in June 2014 before leaving Juba, however, Adwok believes that he withdrew it after Salva Kiir failed to respond. “Let me tell you, it is after long discussion with Dr. Riek and Gen. Taban, .., [convincing me to lead the SPLM-IO delegation in Arusha] …You remember on June 1st, I submitted a letter of resignation, withdrawing my membership from SPLM party but luckily enough he [Salva] has not responded, so I withdrew it” Adwok narrates. According to Dr. Riek Machar, the Chairman and C-in-C of SPLM/SPLA, Salva Kiir administration has publicly admitted that more than 70% of the army has defected, and therefore that 70% must be the legitimate SPLM/SPLA. While commenting on security reforms, Dr. Machar reiterates that the Country must have two separate armies that will be amalgamated into a national army, which would be composed of the current two warring factions of SPLA. According to Dr. Machar it would never be logical that more than 70% of the army could be integrated into less than 30% of the original national army. The SPLM/SPLA [IO] believes that Salva Kiir regime survives thus far on less than 25% of the army, supported by national army of Uganda, four rebels groups from Sudan and unidentified troops from countries likes Rwanda, Congo and Burundi. According to Lt. Gen, Alfred Lado Gore, the Deputy Chairperson of SPLM/SPLA [IO], Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit “has zero capacity to unite the South Sudanese. “Salva Kiir has zero capacity. What is unity with Salva Kiir, who has been surrounded by suckers, idiots, drunkers, who have no time to think?” Lt. Gen, Lado questions. “Kenya and other countries were built by people who sacrificed” Gen. Ladu continues. “This party was a beautiful party but noble principles were thrown out of window…Dr. Riek, Dr. Adwok, I and others brought up the SPLM to International level but those who have been running it since 2005 have killed it”. Lt. Gen. Ladu remarks. “SPLM died a natural death. It has become a party of thugs.” Ladu continues. Lt.Gen. Ladu blames the former Secretary General, Pagan Amum, who is currently in USA, for burying the SPLM/SPLA during his term. “When I met comrade Pagan in Malakal, I told him, Pagan you have buried SPLM 6 meters deep…” Lt. Ladu said. “Let get the skeletons from the cupboard where comrade Pagan has left it and put flesh on it and build it to a glorious party once again” the Former Chief Ideologue of SPLM, Lt. Gen. Ladu said.
