In a country where multi-millionaire netas whirl around in helicopters & private jets, people admire them because they wear khaadi & sandals! In a country where an honest, down-to-earth IITian occasionally gets invited by global organizations (all expenses paid) for recognition of his contribution to society, everyone jumps on him for accepting the luxuries. If I was Arvind Kejriwal, Id have understood that Indians dont care about ground reality, they care about perception! A chaiwala branded & sponsored by a multi-billion dollar corporate campaign is more attractive than an IITian sponsored by crowd-funded donations from the citizens. As such, ideally, Arvind Kejriwal should have humbly accepted the honor but requested economy class tickets & modest accommodations (no 5 star hotel suite) with the difference being donated to a charity of his choice (preferably in Delhi)
