As Amino Spiking is lately the hottest topic. Amino spiking is when a company puts amino acids into the protein formulation to make the product appear to have more protein. Protein is determined by the nitrogen content, since protein is made up of amino acids, they also have nitrogen. Meaning if you test 5g of Valine for protein content it would come back as 5g of protein, even though it doesnt have any complete proteins just one of the building blocks of protein. Taurine, Glycine and other amino acids are very cheap. They offer little to no benefits to muscle building. Whey Protein is expensive, so companies will put whey protein and glycine to make the protein content appear 25g but in actuality you could only have 15g of whey protein and 10g of glycine.
