As Christians all over the world celebrate Christmas, the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has urged Nigerians to use the opportunity being offered by the season to pray for the peaceful conduct of the 2015 election, in which case the election will be seen and adjudged to be free and fair. He also appealed to Nigerians of goodwill to also pray for divine intervention over the issue of insurgency that has claimed many lives of innocent Nigerians. The governor said that Jesus had preached and ensured peace and then urged Christians and non Christians alike in the country to also preach and ensure peace, and added that the emphasis on religion and ethnic divides is drawing the country backward, instead of pushing her forward. According to him, Nigeria would do better as a united nation, than as a polarized country, and pleaded with the elite to stop fanning the ember of discord, because the ordinary Nigerians have no problem with each other. For the people of Imo state, the governor urged them to remain peaceful and loving as they have always done, and maintained that the stories about the state would continue to be that of success, development and progress. He wishes all Nigerians God’s divine visitation this Christmas.
