As Council 4 Executive Director Sal Luciano always says, a pension is deferred compensation, not a gift. Its something workers paid into and earned. So if the grand bargain allows pension benefits to be slashed, how exactly is that a bargain for workers? The good news is how hard our union has worked to protect our members pensions and to get government to properly fund this obligation to state employees. And, weve fought to make sure the municipal retirement system is fulfilling its obligations. We cant and wont let our guard down here in Connecticut.
