As Human beings, we love…Love is in our nature, it fulfils us and gives us a sense of direction, a purpose in this labyrinth called life. All other emotions stem from love or the absence of it, this absence is called fear. Fear (frequently characterised by hate or anger) usually occurs when one feels threatened or uneasy, especially by the unknown. So, as life becomes more universally interactive and diverse people and cultures begin to meet and integrate with each other, in modern times we are more likely to encounter the unknown. This fear has dealt haymakers to the unification and advancement of the human race throughout history in the form of war, genocide and other violent encounters. This fear is made even worse by art and the media, which perpetuate stereotypes and create unrealistic expectations about life in different regions of the world. We expect to find savages in tribal areas, hillbillies in the country and don’t even get me started about places like Hollywood. This creates confusion when we do not find what we have been expecting. We see the unknown as a threat because we expect others to feel the same…threatened. I say, if we really wish to find truth or purpose as a species, we should make an effort to learn about other people. This should be done with a clear mind, devoid of expectations or fears, this will make the experience all the more fulfilling. Stop fearing and start loving, because it is only through global love that we can discover our true potential as people! Thank you
