As I am celebrating my 10 years in business I felt the need to - TopicsExpress

As I am celebrating my 10 years in business I felt the need to share my thoughts my lessons . If you own your own business you will relate. When I opened my doors I knew what it would be to a point, I had been around it all my life. But it drew me like a moth to a flame, something my husband still doesnt get. :-) I opened with so much hope and faith, and excitement. I still have the excitement, hope and faith, which is why I still do it, when the excitement, faith and hope goes- so will I. You must have enthusiasm to make it, cause it is the toughest thing you will ever do. There will be more sleepless nights then you can count. Your feelings will be trampled on more times then you can count. You will lose your temper with yourself, employees, and suppliers, more times then you can count (in the most politically correct way), when what you really want to do is scream shout and stomp. Your friends will disappoint you, you will make new friends through your business that will be some of your closest. You will go to people who have businesses and understand your craziness, and help so much and you try to glean as much information as you can, and still not know enough. You will have great employees,( I do) who support you through thick and thin. But it is your baby and at the end, it is not as important to anyone as it is to you. My advice to anyone who opens a business prepare for blood, sweat and tears. Days you think everyone forgot your business exists and you are so depressed you just want to push off into the river. Then the days you are so busy and have no time to take a breath, and you want to push it off into the river. But you love it and your customers (most of them) and you just keep plugging. Thank you, everyone who has supported me and my shop. Thank you is not enough but ...THANK YOU!
