As I am trying to organize my room and get ready for my impending life upheaval, I am finding oils that I forgot that I had. Imagine the huge smile on my face when I came across my bottle of A World Where There Are Octobers, from last Halloween. There were two scents I was very emotional about with that last round of weenies Theme in Yellow (which I read the description of, cried and then wrote to Beth and told her she had made the scent of my childhood memories of Halloween) and this one. I read Anne of Green Gables so much as kid. I still have the entire set of the Anne stories in the original paperbacks that I received for Christmas when I was 10. I especially loved the first (Anne of Green Gables, the second (Anne of Avonlea) and the third (Anne of the Island). Needless to say, I had decided that even if the scent didnt work for me on I was going to keep it regardless for sentimental reasons. Here is the description: A WORLD WHERE THERE ARE OCTOBERS October was a beautiful month at Green Gables, when the birches in the hollow turned as golden as sunshine and the maples behind the orchard were royal crimson and the wild cherry trees along the lane put on the loveliest shades of dark red and bronzy green, while the fields sunned themselves in aftermaths. Anne reveled in the world of color about her. “Oh, Marilla,” she exclaimed one Saturday morning, coming dancing in with her arms full of gorgeous boughs” ‘I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November, wouldn’t it? Look at these maple branches. Don’t they give you a thrill–several thrills? I’m going to decorate my room with them.” An armload of maple boughs and a swirl of autumn leaves. When this first came out it was way too green for me. Those of you that have smelled any of the versions of October will know what I mean when I say there is that cold, green vibe..like how the leaves will change in the beginning of foliage season and become half green, half red, yellow or orange. But now after its been sitting here since last fall, the green has softened alot into an almost creamy, softly smoky aspect and then its just a tinge sweet from the maple. On my wrists its fall magic. Its Annes happiness about Autumn made into a perfume. I can smell the sunshine, the warm maple wood and the autumn air. This had much to live up to in my mind and I have a very peaceful feeling as I have this on while Im typing. All is right with the world in this split second
